Doctor Rietz & Staff

Meet Dr. Rietz and his friendly and knowledgeable staff who make Optometric Vision Center the leading provider of vision care products and services in the Lewis/Clark Valley and surrounding areas.

Dr. John T Rietz

Dr. Rietz grew up in Walla Walla, Washington, and after receiving his Doctor of Optometry Degree from Pacific University in 1990, he and his family settled in Lewiston. He and his wife, Michele, have raised 5 daughters and one son in the Lewis/Clark Valley, and have 12 grandchildren.

Dr. Rietz is a member of the Idaho Optometric Physicians and American Optometric Association.  He is a past president of the IOP in 1999 and also served 5 years on the Idaho State Board of Optometry.   He was awarded Idaho Optometrist of the Year in 2004.

When he’s not in the office, Dr Rietz enjoys watching sports games and visiting with family. He is also a master pancake artist, anytime the grandkids come to visit.

Peyton Francis- Optician

Peyton grew up in Kooskia, Idaho, and started working at the Optometric Vision Center, after completing LCSC’s Optical tech program in the later part of 2022. She has been working full time for the last year and recently decided to go back to school for radiology and sonography, while continuing to work part time.

Peyton just got married! When she isn’t working, you can usually find Peyton spending time with her husband, Josh playing some kind of outdoor sport. Peyton also loves cooking and creating new food concoctions.

Jenna Hutchins- Optician

Jenna just started with us part time this January. She has been a cosmetologist for the last 10 years and is now learning the optical field as well! As one of our opticians, she is responsible for patient pre-testing, lab orders, contact fittings and frame adjustments.

Jenna has an 11-year-old son named Dom, and married her husband, Devin, in September of 2022. On the days Jenna isn’t working in the office, she is usually at the salon, coloring and cutting hair. On the weekends Jenna and her family love camping, fishing, hunting or anything outdoors. Jenna and Devin are also big “foodies” and love trying new restaurants, or recipes at home.

Jessica Sweet- Office Coordinator

Jessica Sweet will have been working at the Optometric Vision Center for 17 years, as of this May. She is responsible for all insurance claims/billing and finances. She, as well as the other staff, are also always available to help schedule appointments and answer any questions regarding referrals or medication refills.

In Jessica’s off time, she enjoys watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers, floating and river rafting and spending time with her husband, Josh, her 2 sons, Jarrett and Justice, as well as her fur babies, Barley and Hopper. You will never see Jessica in anything other than flip flops, even with a foot of snow outside!
